1993-94 Donruss Special Print #X
Donruss marks the beginning of year 1993-94. With his base card, the Ice Kings insert came from the creativity of sports artist Dick Perez. Also, the Special Print is the same version as the base card, but with a foil logo and the mention "Special print of 1 of 20 000" on top.
Leaf

1993-94 Leaf Gold All-Stars #8

1993-94 Leaf Promo #10
Leaf is a pretty basic 440 cards set separated in two 220 cards series. The Gold All-Stars insert was inserted in series 2 foil packs.
Edit 2022 : I've been told that there is a promo version of this card : to be able to get the difference, the Leaf logo is smaller and the NHLPA letters are white instead of blue. That's the info I got from a Finnish collector!

O-Pee-Chee Premier has 528 cards in its base set. There is also a gold parallel. The black gold was inserted randomly in O-Pee-Chee packs.

I'm glad that Parkhurst didn't put Bure three times like last year in its 540 cards set with also its Emerald Ice! One time is enough! So with the base and parallel, he is in the East/West insert, as well as the Canada Gold, which was at a rate of 1 per 30 series 1 foil packs, so above one per box.

1993-94 Pinnacle Sample II #320
Pinnacle is the first brand to break the 10 cards in a year. I don't count Score because of the 4 promo sheets. It consists of two series of 236 and 275 cards respectively. There is also a card honoring the 802nd goal of the Great One, but it's not considered part of the set. There is a French version of the base, as well as the All-Stars, Team 2001, and the Team Pinnacle. The last one is randomly found at a rate of 1 per 90. At the time, it was quite rare! The only one not with a French (and different image) version is the Nifty Fifty set (1 per 36 packs). There is also a Sample version of the base card, which is recognizable by the cut top right corner.
Powerplay
1993-94 PowerPlay #248
|
1993-94 PowerPlay Global Greats #1
|
1993-94 PowerPlay Points Leaders #1
PowerPlay was a strange, yet cool set for its time. Measuring 2 1/2" by 4 3/4", the set contains 520 cards. Inserted at a rate of one per four series two packs, the Global Greats looks great with the flag of origin behind the player. The Points Leaders set were less scarce, with a rate of one per two packs in series one.

Score is a whooping 661 cards set! With his base, who has two versions (English and bilingual Canadian), you can find two inserts at a rate of one per box is the Dream Team and the Franchise. These were base cards in the past years of the brand. As for the International Stars, it has an English and bilingual Canadian versions.

Stadium Club has probably the first real tough pulls in the wax era: the infamous First Day Issue. It was way harder to find than the Members Only parallel. Since Bure is in series 2, he didn't have the O-Pee-Chee version of the card.
The All-Stars subset was a tricky one for one card in particular: the O-Pee-Chee parallel. The only difference between the two is that the OPC version has a "PTD in U.S.A" line just beside the copyright. It took me YEARS to realize this!

Two series of 250 cards made this Ultra set. Love the Red Light Special and the Speed Marchants inserts. The All-Stars inserts set is cool, but not as the previous two. Probably because it's a series 1 insert!

1993-94 Upper Deck NHLPA/Be A Player #20
Upper Deck closes the year (alphabetically) with its hefty 575 cards set. Many subsets are in this one, like the 100 point-club (220-235), All-Rookie Leaders (280-285), and the Team Point Leaders (286-309), in which he appears for the second time.
Many inserts are in this series. Future Heroes was a bit tough to get with its 1 per 30 first series U.S. hobby packs. NHL's Best has the same rate but in the U.S. retail packs. Also, there's no gold version of the Silver Skates, like many pretend. It's only in retail packs, not hobby ones, that we can get those inserts.
The NHLPA/Roots ones is a tricky one. I have to thank Benn Mixer here (@BennMixer on Twitter) for sending me this one because I had a hard time tracking it! They called them "Hang Out" because of the hole in the upper left corner, making the card a "hang tag". Finally, the NHLPA/Be A Player is just a weird photo of Bure in the sauna...
